Live countdowns to sunset, games, tides, launches & more
Countdown Dash is a free, real-time countdown dashboard that shows you everything happening next — all on one auto-updating timeline personalized to your location. No signup required. No app to download. Just open the page and it detects your location, loads live data from multiple sources, and shows you a continuous countdown to every upcoming event. It works on desktop, tablet, and mobile, and refreshes automatically so you can leave it open all day.
Countdown Dash calculates today's sunset time, sunrise time, golden hour, and solar noon for your exact location using astronomical formulas. You can see exactly how many hours and minutes until sunset wherever you are. Sunrise and sunset times are accurate to within a few minutes and update daily. The Sky category also shows moon phases — new moon, first quarter, full moon, and last quarter — with precise dates, so you always know when the next full moon is.
Never miss a game. Countdown Dash shows live scores and upcoming game times for MLB baseball, NBA basketball, NFL football, NHL hockey, WNBA, MLS soccer, English Premier League (EPL), La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, UEFA Champions League, PGA golf tournaments, ATP and WTA tennis matches, UFC and MMA fights, NASCAR Cup Series races, college football, and college basketball. Games in progress show live scores pinned at the top of the timeline. Scheduled games show a countdown to start time. Whether you want to know what time the Yankees play today, when the next Lakers game is tonight, what the Cowboys score is right now, or when the next Premier League match kicks off, it's all here in one place. Follow your favorite soccer clubs — Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, PSG, Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid, and Borussia Dortmund — with live scores and upcoming match times. Final scores remain visible briefly after games end.
The full 2026 NASCAR Cup Series schedule is built into Countdown Dash, including race times, track names, and TV networks. From the Daytona 500 to the Championship at Homestead-Miami, every race shows up on your timeline with a countdown. Race times are automatically converted to your local timezone, so whether you're on the East Coast or West Coast, you see the correct start time. The schedule covers Prime Video, TNT, USA Network, and NBC broadcasts.
The Markets category shows NYSE and NASDAQ open and close times converted to your local timezone. It knows every market holiday — New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas — and shows when the market will reopen. Early close days like the day before Independence Day, Black Friday, and Christmas Eve are also tracked. Earnings report dates for major companies like Apple (AAPL), NVIDIA (NVDA), Tesla (TSLA), Microsoft (MSFT), Amazon (AMZN), Google (GOOG), and Meta are displayed on the timeline so you know when to watch for earnings surprises and stock price movements.
Countdown Dash uses the National Weather Service (NWS) API to show hourly weather forecasts for your location. You can see temperature changes throughout the day, when rain or snow is expected to start and stop, wind advisories, and extreme temperature warnings. Active severe weather alerts — tornado watches, thunderstorm warnings, winter storm advisories, heat advisories, and flood warnings — appear on the timeline with full details. Weather data covers the entire United States and updates every 15 minutes.
For coastal users, Countdown Dash automatically finds the nearest NOAA tide prediction station and shows upcoming high tide and low tide times with water heights. Tide predictions cover the next two weeks and include the exact time and height of each high and low tide. The dashboard automatically hides the Tides category for inland users since tide data isn't relevant away from the coast. Tide data comes from NOAA's CO-OPS API and covers thousands of stations across the United States coastline.
Countdown Dash shows upcoming visible passes of the International Space Station (ISS) over your location. Each pass includes the duration, maximum elevation above the horizon, and the direction it rises and sets. Only visible passes are shown — meaning the ISS is in sunlight while your location is in darkness, making it appear as a bright, steady, fast-moving star. Passes at higher elevations are brighter and easier to spot. The detail popup includes viewing tips and recommends the ISS Detector app (issdetector.com) for notifications and detailed sky charts.
Every upcoming rocket launch appears on the timeline with the mission name, launch provider, launch site, and current status. SpaceX Starlink missions, Falcon 9 launches, crew Dragon flights, Rocket Lab Electron launches, ULA Atlas V and Vulcan missions, and European Arianespace launches are all included. Launch times update automatically as schedules change. For live launch coverage, each event recommends NASASpaceFlight.com (NSF) and Spaceflight Now on YouTube — the best independent sources for real-time launch streams and technical commentary.
The Sky category tracks major meteor showers throughout the year — Quadrantids in January, Lyrids in April, Eta Aquariids in May, Perseids in August, Orionids in October, Leonids in November, and Geminids in December. Solar and lunar eclipses are shown months in advance with details about visibility. Moon phase calculations show the exact dates of every new moon, first quarter, full moon, and last quarter, so you always know when the next full moon is or when to plan astrophotography around a new moon.
The Local Events category shows concerts, theater performances, comedy shows, family attractions, sporting events, and festivals happening within 30 miles of your location. Events are pulled from Ticketmaster and include venue names, dates, times, and ticket price ranges. Whether you're looking for live music tonight, a comedy show this weekend, or family-friendly events near you, the dashboard surfaces them automatically based on your GPS location.
Every major U.S. holiday appears on the timeline — New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, plus Tax Day, Father's Day, Mother's Day, and more. Each day on the timeline starts with an "On This Day in History" entry — a notable historical event that happened on that date, with the year. From the Apollo 11 Moon landing to the invention of the telephone, there's something interesting for every day of the year. Today's top national and local headlines appear at the top of the timeline, sourced from Google News.
When you open Countdown Dash, it asks for your location using your browser's GPS or geolocation. Once it knows where you are, it fetches live data from multiple free public APIs — the National Weather Service for weather, ESPN for sports, NOAA for tides, Ticketmaster for local events, and several space and astronomy APIs. All of this data is merged into a single timeline sorted by time. The page refreshes automatically every 60 seconds, with data sources updating on their own schedules — sports every 10 minutes, weather every 15 minutes, and so on. You can filter categories by tapping the colored dots in the legend bar, and tap any event to see full details. Five color themes are available — Dark, Light, High Contrast, Midnight Blue, and Warm Sepia — and your theme choice is saved automatically.
Countdown Dash is completely free with no signup, no account, and no app to install. It works in any modern web browser. Your location is used only to personalize the data shown — it is never stored on any server. Theme and filter preferences are saved in the URL hash so you can bookmark your preferred setup. The dashboard is supported by ads but does not track individual users beyond standard analytics.
